MÆX – Maximilian and Mexico
Healing stones in mexican extravaganza
Mexico! That is blaze of colour and lust for life. Very special and traditional objects are the cuchuries, colourful bags of lovingly woven beads made by the Huicholes (engl.: healer, sorcerer). This indigenous Mexican tribe lives in the Sierra Madre, with spirituality, craftsmanship and the healing effect of stones as their culture’s important cornerstones. With Maximilian I, who was proclaimed Emperor of Mexico in 1864, a historic relationship to Austria is given. This brother of Franz Joseph´s was deemed to be fond of arts as well as imaginative.
Petra Stelmüller´s colourful MÆX Bag does not only deal with a piece of Mexican-Austrian history, for a „symbiotic power stone“, too, is embedded in her design object – the MÆX-Stone. Two stones typical for either country are being cut and fit together into ONE smooth stone.
Obsidian – cooled off drops of lava – was used by America’s indigenous people not only as a gem but also as a healing stone. It is supposed to release blockages, help with fear, support dormant abilities and sharpen awareness.
In old times Rock crystal, gem and healing stone as well, was used by many people as an instrument helping with diagnosis. It boosts the energy of other stones, has harmonizing effects and helps with your concentration.
Each MÆX Bag is exclusive and unique! In Mexico the pattern is being woven by a Huichol indigena in elaborate, traditional zick-zack-technique, made into a bag of 9×9 cm by hand and finally embroidered with black and white glass beads. Into every MÆX bag a unique MÆX-Stone is put.
The MÆX bag is a special and truly extravagant present for precious people, whom you would want to make safe by giving them a MÆX-Stone with its power and healing effects. A well appreciated present especially in times like these.
